Our humblest apologies to those of you who turned up for this evening as due to circumstaces totally beyond our control it had to be cancelled at very short notice. We intend to rebook Feak at the earliest opportunity!
Feak are now rebooked for our Clubnight on July 12th.
By way of recompense to our members for any inconvenience caused by this cancellation, we're offering a Special Deal for the SONiA Concert on 15th March.
Feak is the meeting of two likeminded young folkies, Louise Evans and Laura Quin. On fiddle, guitar and vocals, they present their own distinctive blend of traditional folk and contemporary song. Louise admits to a misspent youth travelling to Cape Breton, Scotland and Sweden to pick up the tastiest of fiddle tunes and songs. Laura has trawled the festival circuit in NZ, performing and teaching, and has built up an impressive reputation as one of the country's best young folk accompanists and songwriter. Since moving to Auckland from opposite ends of the North Island, they have joined forces and now perform lively sets around the city, with a full year ahead.
By way of an apology for the sudden cancellation of last weeks Clubnight All TFMC Members can come and See SONiA tonight for only $5 Admission. But you must bring your current TFMC Membership Card to qualify for this reduced rate.
SONiA is a versatile performer with an engaging stage presence and a wonderful songwriter appealing to those who enjoy a more contemporary folk/rock sound.
Her songs are mostly quite political - about issues she feels passionately, but she also writes children's songs and quirky humorous stuff as well.
She has played Auckland Folk Festival and the Waiheke Jazz and Blues Festival in the past and is looking forward to being back in New Zealand.
The evening opens with a set of songs from Bill Morrison.
An informal ‘Singaround’ when a smaller group of people meet to share their songs and music.
Humour & pathos all wrapped up in 1 very entertaining bundle.
‘Behind the cheerful guitar and sweet voice lie lyrics of barbed wire. The ironies of modern life are her inspiration, the contrast in her disarming delivery and often explicit words, is her charm.’ Hilary Falconer, WAIKATO TIMES.
This is Kath's last gig before she returns to the UK so lets give her a rousing Titirangi send off!
The evening opens with a set of songs from Sieffe LaTrobe.
