Not to be confused with Bryce Utting “The Good Bryce” from Hamilton, Bryce Patten “The Evil Bryce” brings his not-so-scary music to TFMC for his debut solo guest spot gig! A seemingly far cry from his other musical endeavours in the world of rock and heavy metal. Primarily acoustic guitar and voice, presenting crisp, haunting original material and acoustic reworkings of classic [and sometimes obscure] songs from throughout the musical spectrum.
Bryce’s first contact with the folk music scene was at TFMC back in 2009, introduced by Victoria Vigenser and Andrea Reid. Since then he has become increasingly involved in the Auckland folkie / live music scene, attending a great deal of live music events and this year having performed on the opening concert of the Auckland Folk Festival. Bryce is also known to be keen to have a crack at any instrument with strings and a fingerboard, so a little variety could materialise depending what he has in his possession on the night.
Either way, expect a strong clear voice accompanied by various guitar styles including plectrum, fingerstyle, two-hand tapping and percussive.
Here he is at a recent performance at the Kings Arms, we will be getting the acoustic Bryce.
