Beverley Young is acknowledged as one of the finest exponents of British and Celtic folksong in New Zealand. A lifelong love of the poetic songs and ballads in the British and Irish traditions, coupled with a lovely voice and fluid vocal style lend an unforgettable intensity to her performances.
Most recently she is known for her work with accapella trad group Supersheep and country/buegrass outfit - Beverley & The Clench Mountain Boys. So expect a varied mix of traditional, country and contemporary song, and the musical support of Al Young and a company of friends.
Beverley has three recordings of her own, the first of which won the RIANZ folk award category in the year of its release. The other two were finalists in the Tui awards.
She has performed at concerts, clubs and festivals throughout New Zealand and Australia and in the UK as part of acapella trio Florabunda. Over the years Beverley has also given many vocal workshops and singing sessions, helping lots of other singers find their voice.
An informal ‘Singaround’ - ‘Open Mic’ without a Mic - A smaller group of people meet to share their songs and music.
